Vidnami is a new name for an established online video creation service formerly called Content Samurai.

This is a subscription-based video creation service that runs online and costs $47 per month.

The name was changed because Content Samurai is not one you immediately think has anything to do with making videos.

Vidnami at least suggests it is video related. The "nami" in the name is Japanese for "wave". So the idea behind the new name is about using video to create a positive wave of influence in the world.

Anything I say from here on out applies to both Vidnami and Content Samurai as they provide exactly the same service. The Content Samurai brand will, however be retired in the next 60 days (in mid July).

So How Does Vidnami Make Videos?

Lots of people are happy to appear on video and do their thing in front of the camera.

But there are lots of people who also don't want to appear on camera for a wide range of reasons.

Maybe that's down to being camera shy, not liking the way you look on camera, not liking the sound of your own voice, maybe English isn't your first language or maybe you're worried about being criticised, ridiculed or made fun of in your video's comments (like on YouTube).

Vidnami creates professional-quality videos where you don't have to appear on screen and you don't have to speak or do a voice-over.

What you do need to provide is a script.

You can think of it as a text-to-video app.

It takes your script and turns it into a video.

It does this by primarily selecting motion videos from its extensive library that are a good fit for words in your sentences.

If you want to use a different video or a static image, you can easily edit your "scenes" and pick what you'd prefer to use. A scene is a sentence from your script with a background video.

You can also upload your own video clips and images and use those in your videos.

There are a variety of video templates to choose from - both rectangular and square (for social media) - and all are customizable:

Videos can have text overlays (this is the default option) which will show the words and sentences from your script.

What's a Video Without Music?

Well, there are tens of thousands of royalty-free music tracks to choose from, sorted into various genres to make it easy to find a track that resonates with or adds emotion to your video.

And What About Voiceovers?

One of the really neat features of Vidnami is that it also does text to speech.

Now there are some text to speech services out there that have low-quality voices -voices that sound very artificial.

Vidnami has a selection of high-quality synthesised male and female voices with different accents that will speak your script.

The voice works in sync with the in-video text so that one never goes out of sync with the other.

You can also upload your own voiceover and use that instead, whether you record yourself speaking or you hire a voiceover artist to speak your script.

Branding Your Videos

It's also possible to watermark your videos and you can use this feature to brand your videos with your business name or domain name.

The watermark is a PNG image, so you can include logos in it if you want. It's also resizeable so you can make it cover as much or as little of the video as you want. And you can position it anywhere you want over your video.

Being a PNG, this image can also be made semi-transparent if you want, so the watermark doesn't completely cover the video behind it.

How Easy Is It To Actually Make A Video With Vidnami?

The hardest part is actually writing your script. You want it to be snappy and to the point.

I prefer to use one sentence per line and to break longer sentences into two or more shorter sentences.

Then it's a matter of pasting the script into Vidnami and clicking the create scenes button.

This takes your script, looks for keywords in each sentence and then finds a motion video to use for that sentence.

This combination of a sentence and a background video is called a scene.

Once all the scenes have been created, you can edit them if you want to make changes to your wording and/or select a different video or static image to use for that scene.

This editing process can be as short or long as you want.

At the end of the scene editing process, it's time to add the voiceover track whether its created by you, your voiceover artist or you have Vidnami auto-generate the voiceover track.

Once that's done, select your music track and add a watermark.

There's a final, optional editing step you can use. The generated scenes are each 5 seconds long. You can change the length of scenes here to tweak the video should you need to.

Otherwise, it's now time to generate your finished video.

This will take a minute or two, or perhaps longer, depending on how long your video is.

Then, it's a simple matter of downloading the completed video and uploading it to your favorite video service or social media platform.

My Experience With Vidnami

I joined Content Samurai, as Vidnami was formerly known, in 2016, precisely because I did not want to appear on video myself.

I make 3 types of video primarily:

- promotional videos which I use to market products and services I'm affiliated with.
- informational videos where I provide some training about a product or service.
- videos that are designed to get viewers to sign up to one of my email lists.

Some videos I've spent far too much time on when my perfectionism kicks in. Others I've cranked out in minutes, just so I could get a video online.

I usually batch-process my video making so I'm in the zone rather than hopping between that, blogging, sending out emails or doing any other type of work.

I find that I get things done faster and more efficiently this way and then I can schedule when my videos are posted online.

If you're happy to let Vidnami make all the choices for you, then you can crank out a lot of videos very quickly.

In the 4 years that I've been using the service, I've never experienced any kind of glitch, bug or crash that has corrupted, damaged or lost content in a video project. I can't say that about a couple of other online video creation services I've used.

What I Like About Vidnami

6. Being able to add a watermark to brand your videos.
7. The option to speed up your videos by a small amount so that the presentation appears more energetic and passionate, though this feature is best used with a voice over.
8. There is nothing to manage outside the service.
9. Since the tool runs in the cloud, you can access it and your video projects anywhere you have an internet connection.
10. There are no account restrictions - you can create as many videos as you want and they can be of any length.
11. There are over 270,000 users out there, so this is a strong company that'll be around for years to come.
12. Support is top-notch and they reply within hours.

What I Dislike About Vidnami

1. This is a subscription-based service so to keep using it you have to keep paying for it. For some people, even the $47 per month price tag will be too high.
2. All your video projects are stored online on Vidnami's servers. If you cancel your subscription, you lose all access to those projects.
3. The preview of your video is jerky and doesn't show how smooth the video is when it's finally rendered. However, the app does tell you about this.
4. Despite its extensive library of videos and images, there are some topics where content is thin and you may need to source videos or images elsewhere for upload into Vidnami.
5. The software only works in the Google Chrome browser.

Final Verdict

Watching videos is trending higher and higher amongst web users as time goes by.

If you're a marketer or you run a small business, then getting your products and services in front of that audience is becoming ever more important.

Vidnami allows you to create videos to get your message out to that audience without having to hire a professional videographer or outsourcing the creation of your videos to an agency.

I get it. I didn't want to put my face on a video either, but I did know that I had to start using video for my promotions and my blogs.

And then I was introduced to Vidnami (when it was still called Content Samurai) and I fell in love with it.

I have been using Vidnami for about several years now and have found it to be super easy to use to create very good videos with sound track, spoken track and on frame text all on the same video if you want.

I have used it to import slides of my own images, they have built in images and video clips if you prefer. Mix and match is easy, replacing images you don't want takes seconds.

What I Like...

Almost every thing really. It's just super easy to use, and it keeps getting better.

What I Dislike...

While the built in voices for the text to voice are better than most I still don't like most of them as they don't have any way to get the inflections right.

I usually read the script myself. Fortunately that is simple to do and can be done one frame at a time rather than trying to get it all down in a single take.

Final Verdict...

Currently there is a 7 day free trial with no limitations, that's how I started using it and I didn't wait for the trial period to end before buying in.

I don't think I can rate this highly enough, if they get those voices sounding better Content Samurai would get 6 stars from me.
