I have been using CryptoTab for about 3 weeks now.

I have managed to personally refer 80 new users, and my total downline, at the time of writing this, is about 650 people, evenly distributed, more or less, in 10 levels. I have been paid 42,000 satoshis after 18 days of using it.

Not real mining? Of course is real mining. CryptoTab is using Coinhive's JavaScript miner for the Monero blockchain. The Monero that it mines are then exchanged and saved in user accounts as Bitcoins. Users are paid in Bitcoins for convenience!

The reason for mining Monero instead of Bitcoin is because of Cryptonight, which is Moneros chain algorithm. This algorithm was designed to run well on consumer CPUs. Running it on GPU does not offer a significant advantage (about 2x compared to 10000x for the algorithm used by Bitcoin) and this makes Cryptonight a nice target for JavaScript and the Browser.
