Not By Might by Laurie Moss is a true, inspirational Christian autobiography. Written in her late 70s, the writer takes us through a fascinating story of her life - from earliest memories to the events that shaped her destiny. Life was hard in the era in which she grew up, people were poor, and opportunities were few.

Driven by a passion for learning, Mrs. Moss recounts her bitter disappointments when the educational opportunities she craved were held out of reach due to poverty. Undaunted, she pressed on and tried other ways to make a better life. Finally, she attained success, but the path was filled with disappointments, pain and loss. Her faith in God, which blossomed in her teens, was instrumental in keeping her grounded and strong in the challenges she faced in later life.

What I Like

Not By Might is a gripping story that is hard to put down. The author unveils the story of her life and the disappointments in a way that I could relate to. I was encouraged to keep believing in my destiny even though things do not seem to be favorable at times.

What I Dislike

I hated the poverty that strips people of their dreams and hopes.

Final Verdict

This book is set in a rural Caribbean contest, but the story line is easy to identify with. My faith was strengthened to believe that I can achieve my dreams. I recommend that anyone going through struggles read this book. It is honest and forthright, and you will be encouraged.
